Verde First Week Checklist

Calm goals for the week after Dewdrop Valley opened on Steam.

Verde First Week Checklist

Verde has been on Steam since August 12, 2026. This page keeps the old /tools/prelaunch-checklist/ URL so existing links still work, but the checklist is now a first-week plan for the full game and patch 1.0.2. Tick items in order, then dive into the Guides Hub.

Day one after install

  1. Confirm the 1.0.2 update on Patch Notes and pick a language you can read on first boot.
  2. Verify System Requirements on the PC or Mac you actually use.
  3. Test middle-click rotation using Controls.
  4. Start the campaign; do not skip water coverage. Follow Getting Started if you feel lost.
  5. Click tutorial objectives when a percentage stalls that is a 1.0.2 feature.

First garden session

  • Bookmark Seedlets Care and Water and Resources.
  • Build a starter district with green heat-map layers before you shop every plus icon.
  • Unlock at least one specialty food building beyond the market.
  • Save a housing preset you actually like (Building Customization).
  • Stop while the game still feels cozy. Leave a reason to return tomorrow.

Beach week, not beach night

When the mailbox offers tropic land, open Unlock Regions and Biomes Overview before spending Leaves. Place misting fans, then a tiny cooled housing test. The Surfer and Fisherman questlines can wait until the heat map is calm. Details: Questlines.

Snow can wait

Snow Warning and winter questlines are full-game content. Do not buy snow parcels on a tired evening. Copy the beach kit: utilities first, houses second. If a gazebo quest broke before 1.0.2, rebuild it after the patch (Troubleshooting).

Optional trophies this week

  • Use Photo Mode once for Light, Camera, Action!
  • Activate night or rain only if the UI already offers the toy.
  • Ignore Seedlet Boom (500 population) until the town is pretty.

Full list: Achievements.

Demo versus full save

The demo is still excellent practice for water and fans. It is not a promised migration path. Start a new campaign on the paid build. Demo Guide.

Multiplayer and platforms

Verde is single-player. Share screenshots, not party invites. Steam Deck players should expect a mouse-first layout.

Evening schedule sample

Update in the afternoon, then play sixty to ninety minutes that end on purpose. Stop after a stable garden even if tropic plus icons sparkle. Tired Leaf spending is the enemy of cozy first weeks. Resume with Unlock Regions when the mailbox is ready.

If you still have a wishlist leftover from before August 12, you can uncheck it the garden is already open.

Why the week-one order is strict

Language panel, specs, camera, water, then biomes. Skipping water to rush tropic plus icons is how first-week towns die. The URL still says prelaunch so old links live; the tasks assume the paid build and patch 1.0.2. Tick Photo Mode only after the garden is pretty enough to photograph. Tick snow only after a beach cluster stays green overnight.

If you bounced off the demo, still start a new campaign save — migration is not a promise. If you bounced off a broken gazebo, rebuild it after 1.0.2 rather than abandoning the Special quest. This checklist is a calm spine, not a speedrun bingo card.

FAQ

What should I read first this week?

Getting Started, then Seedlets Care if homes stay empty, then Patch Notes for 1.0.2.
